At the 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Valentino, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, showcased its signature blend of maximalism and historical reverence. The Maison dressed a diverse array of celebrities, each interpreting the theme through bespoke ensembles that celebrated individuality and cultural heritage.
Singer Lana Del Rey exuded ethereal elegance at the Met Gala with a look from the Valentino Vertigineux Haute Couture Collection, designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele. Her ensemble featured a long dress in black velvet and brown satin. The dress is encrusted with lace on the back and features a black bow with feathers. The look is then completed by Valentino Garavani accessories.
Co-chair Colman Domingo made a profound statement in a custom Valentino ensemble that paid homage to the late fashion icon André Leon Talley. He donned a blue long pleated cape with an ivory linen bolero composed of light gold and silver sequin embroidery with small antique silver canes and ivory feathers.
Later in the evening, Domingo transitioned into a second Valentino look featuring a mix of prints. He wore a black and butter check double breasted wool jacket with straight shoulder, embellished with pearl and crystal embroidery and black hand-woven soutache buttons, paired with wide leg wool trousers, butter silk shirt with black stipes and gold lamè thread. He also wore an ivory grain de poudre wool vest and plus de pois scarf.
A silk flower brooch with hand-painted polka dots and Valentino Garavani accessories was added as a finishing touch.
Thai actress Freen Sarocha made history as the first Thai actress to attend the Met Gala, wearing a look exclusively created for her by Creative Director Alessandro Michele. She wore a betulla wool crepe jacket, with contrasting black feather trims. Natural lace highneck body with long sleeves embroidered with sequins and multicolour floral motifs.
She paired with lack georgette skirt and degradé volants, each with pleated rouches in the same fabric, with long tail and satin pink bow at the closure. The look is completed by embroidered multicolour gloves and Valentino Garavani Accessories to add a glamour yet dramatic effect.
Barry Keoghan brought a touch of whimsy to the red carpet with a Valentino outfit that combined playful patterns and textures, exclusively designed for him by Alessandro Michele. Dressed in a commanding black wool jacket, the collar and sleeves shimmer with intricate rhinestones and silver cane embroidery, adding a touch of opulence to the sharp silhouette. Gold jewel buttons catch the light, while a subtle yet striking gold V detail, meticulously stitched in matching thread, nods to the Maison’s signature flair.
Paired with tailored black wool trousers and a baby blue shantoung silk shirt, the ensemble finds balance in its soft yet structured layers. A bold red suede sash with fringes drapes effortlessly around the waist, lending a touch of drama, while Valentino Garavani accessories complete the look, capturing the spirit of refined rebellion.
Also making their mark in Valentino were Clairo, Amelia Gray, Devonté Hynes, Guillaume Diop, Justice Smith, and Sha’Carri Richardson, each stepping out in one-of-a-kind creations by Alessandro Michele.

Without a doubt, Valentino’s presence underscored the Maison’s ability to honour cultural narratives through fashion, dressing a diverse group of celebrities who each brought their unique interpretations to the evening’s theme.
