MENSWEAR: HOW TO DRESS FOR RAIN

MENSWEAR: HOW TO DRESS FOR RAIN

Living in the tropics, how to dress for rain could be a simple yet complicated sartorial challenge for men. We can’t wear more layers, for fun, like men who live in Europe. A jacket or any simple outer is what we usually resort to. But these days, we actually can have more fun with these types of outerwear.

The cardigan or simple jacket with hoodie

Of course, a cardigan or a hooded jacket generally won’t protect us from the rain. But when the rainy season hits, there’s always a potential the weather gets a bit breezy from the afternoon to evening. A warm, knitted cardigan or hooded jacket can do the trick. Break the color pattern by wearing a contrasting color shirt or T-shirt inside.

Sweatshirt

Another classic option: the sweatshirt. With the growth of street fashion and street style in the past few years, the sweatshirt options have been many. One can wear their sweatshirt with almost everything, from tailored pants to shorts. The classic black sweatshirt will head in a preppy direction, but when we opt for something with colors or graphic details, it will speak to the sporty looks’ fans.

Parka

With the influence of workwear and military-style, the parka jacket has its fans amongst the options of outerwear. Men and women have their favorite style of the parka. As it’s more tough-looking, usually thick in construction, and some are made water-resistant, the parka jacket fits for traveling or outdoor activities.

Bomber jacket

Another popular type of jacket inspired by the military; the bomber jacket is usually chunky. Hence, perfect for a breezy situation. A mainstay in men and women’s wardrobe, the modern bomber jacket comes in various sizes (even slightly cropped looking for women) and colors. For a sporty look, pair the jacket with matching pants like trainers and joggers.

Windbreaker

The windbreaker returns to the trend cycle recently and has found many fans. Started as a running jacket in the 60s, the windbreaker is consistent with its sporty DNA. Yet, bold colors are the typical windbreaker feature. Some brands even made their windbreaker to be easily wrapped into small package – practical.
