FENDI BAGUETTE IS REIMAGINED BY PORTER-YOSHIDA IN LATEST COLLABORATION

Debuting on FENDI Men’s Fall Winter 2019 runway early this year, the unexpected collaboration between FENDI and Porter-Yoshida is now available in very limited quantities at FENDI Plaza Indonesia.

The collection is essentially reimagining FENDI’s iconic bags, the Baguette and Peekaboo, with functional minimalism and crafted in Japan from high-performance Porter nylon. Adding various gold or silver-coloured metal details placed throughout. An important note, the collaboration marked the first time the FENDI Baguette has ever been made for men.

The Peekaboo rendition is available in black and grey, while the Baguette is made in red, black, blue and grey. All items featured a co-branded seal stitched onto the front of the bags.  As some fashion editors like to put it, the many ways to wear the men’s Baguette looked like an answer to the booming of waist bag in the past few seasons (as the Baguette release is as a big as a waist bag).

While the Fall-Winter 2019 Men’s collection is built surrounding the theme of dynamic tailoring (inspired by Karl Lagerfeld), Venturini Fendi said that she would love to see younger clients discovering that dynamism. Hence, she paired many of the tailored looks with the first-ever-for-men iteration of the Baguette. And with two straps being offered – one can wear it cross-body or harness it – by the Baguette version, it’s much closer into purse territory than other men’s bags on the market.
