Behind Rihanna’s Valentino MET Gala’s Dress

Rihanna, along with her partner A$AP Rocky, made a grand entrance at the 2023 Met Gala in Valentino. The Haute Couture gown and cape were especially designed for her by Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, and he was more than thrilled to share the story behind his Couture mastery.

The silk faille dress with 5 meters train and 14 meters hem and the silk faille cape with 30 camellias composed of 500 petals were made by 30 seamstresses. The custom Valentino look was an homage to the theme of this year’s Met Gala, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, who was known for creating iconic bridal looks for CHANEL.
