Stars Shine in Tory Burch at the 2025 Met Gala

The 2025 Met Gala was a night of captivating fashion, with two standout appearances by actress Pamela Anderson and filmmaker Janicza Bravo, both dressed in custom creations by Tory Burch. Joining them at the star-studded event was Burch herself, along with multi-disciplinary artist Rashid Johnson, whose collaboration with the designer played a key role in Bravo’s look.

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson turned heads in a striking ice blue silk mesh gown, custom-made to perfection. The gown, fully embroidered with twisted silver sequins and scattered crystals, was a breathtaking work of art.

Tailored using traditional menswear techniques, the dress featured hand-sculpted boning, an exaggerated hip, a handmade corset, and a moulded floating neckline, all reflecting the intricate craftsmanship of Tory Burch’s atelier in New York. The gown was embroidered in Italy, adding an extra layer of elegance and refinement to her ensemble.

Janicza Bravo

Meanwhile, Janicza Bravo’s ensemble was a dynamic fusion of fashion and art. Working with Rashid Johnson, Tory Burch referenced key pieces from Johnson’s current retrospective, “Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers”, on display at the Guggenheim through January 2026. Bravo’s look featured a silk-cotton jacket with black soap faces from Johnson’s “Untitled, Anxious Audience” series, reimagined in micro-sequins, threadwork, and caviar beading.

The design was a tribute to Johnson’s unique visual language, incorporating his signature brushstrokes from the “Bruise Paintings” series, which were meticulously brought to life through jagged embroidery, flocked velvet, and painted foil.

The ensemble also included a double-layered skirt with an ivory silk-cotton base, adorned with a rowboat motif from Johnson’s “Seascape” series,  a meditation on individuality, independence, and escape. Bravo’s accessories were just as striking: she wore a hand-cut ivory organza collar, a silk charmeuse ascot, and an Italian wool pinstriped vest embedded with silver chains. The evening bag, crafted from the same “Anxious Audience” motif, mirrored the jacket’s intricate embellishments, while her footwear, low wedges in jet pavé crystals, harked back to Tory’s archive.

Inspired by the iconic Belle da Costa Greene, whose elegant use of fashion empowered her identity, Burch and Bravo’s collaboration epitomised dandyism through a feminine lens. The resulting looks were bold, intellectual, and undeniably chic.

Tory Burch herself also graced the event in a custom gown that echoed the Art Deco era. The ivory filament lace gown, hand-painted with layers of gesso and overlaid with jet beads, paid homage to 1930s beadwork. Carrying an evening bag with Rashid Johnson’s “Anxious Audience” motif, Burch’s own Met Gala look captured the essence of modern elegance intertwined with art and history.
