Global Stars Celebrate Cartier Nature Sauvage in Singapore

GLOBAL STARS CELEBRATE CARTIER NATURE SAUVAGE: AN EVOCATIVE NIGHT TO HONOUR THE MAISON’S LATEST HIGH JEWELLERY COLLECTION

SINGAPORE, 26 April 2025 – Cartier honoured the unveiling of the final chapter of its Nature Sauvage high jewellery collection with an intimate gala held at the iconic National Gallery Singapore last night. An emblematic venue that hosted Cartier’s last international High Jewellery event in Singapore, the architectural marvel holds profound resonance for the Maison, as a symbolic setting for Singapore’s 60th year of independence.

In honour of this historic milestone, Cartier reaffirms its cultural commitment with Singapore through its participation in the City of Others exhibition, where select creations from the Maison’s collections are showcased within the National Gallery. The gesture celebrates Franco-Singaporean ties and shared values of design and artistry, underscoring 30 years of the Maison’s longstanding affinity with the nation’s cultural landscape and evolution. Available for viewing at National Gallery Singapore from 2 April to 14 August 2025, the City of Others exhibition highlights the evolution of savoir faire through key works in lacquer, decorative art, and high jewellery.

Ambassador Byeon Woo Seok
Cartier’s Friend of the Maison Gemma Chan

The star-studded evening was graced by Friend of the Maison, British actress Gemma Chan, and Ambassador Korean actor Byeon Woo Seok.

As a prelude to the evening’s immersive journey, guests were ushered into the world of Nature Sauvage through a multi-sensory tableau that unfolded gradually like nature. Sweeping video projections transformed the venue into a living canvas, where a rising skyline gave way to the rustling of iconic fauna, as a lush Singaporean landscape slowly unfurled across the room. Like a fresco in motion, the dreamscape set the stage for an awakening, as the rousing percussion evoked Nature Sauvage.

The tone was set for a sensory journey from sunrise to sunset, conceptualised by Paris-based creative duo I Could Never Be a Dancer and led by Olivier Casamayou and Carine Charaire – longstanding collaborators of the Maison. Through music and the seamless interplay of sight, sound, movement and flavour, guests were guided through the poetic world of Nature Sauvage, where the narrative gradually unfolded and culminated in the dramatic unveiling of Cartier’s collection.

At the heart of the evening was also a gastronomic experience crafted exclusively for guests of Cartier. The Maison partnered with Chef Jimmy Lim, the Singapore-born, Taiwan-based chef-proprietor of the three-Michelin-starred JL Studio. Known for his boundary-defying creativity and modern reinterpretations of heritage cuisine, Chef Lim presented a five-course gastronomic journey inspired by Nature Sauvage. Drawing from his deep roots in Singaporean flavours and a global culinary perspective, each course elevated locally sourced ingredients through contemporary technique.

Act 1

SAtheCollective from Singapore

In a series of acts that paid homage to the wild and indomitable spirit of Nature Sauvage, the evening began with ‘Murmurs of Forest’ by SAtheCollective, a Singapore-based multidisciplinary collective known for pioneering cultural innovation through sound and storytelling. The evocative blend of electronic music with traditional Chinese instruments like the guzheng, complemented the first dinner course, ‘Blossom of Light’, brought to life the rhythmic vitality of nature through a dynamic interplay of past and present.

Act 2

Arabesque Dance Company from Vietnam

Following the second course, ‘Nature Palette of Vibrancy’, the crescendo rose with a stirring contemporary dance, Eco Senses, performed by Arabesque Vietnam Dance Company and choreographed by acclaimed director Nguyen Tan Loc. Marrying modern expression with cultural storytelling, Arabesque’s dancers moved with the fluidity of wind and water, embodying the rhythm of rivers, the pulse of deep forest, and the primal elegance of the animal kingdom. The performance struck a perfect harmony between raw instinct and refined grace, each movement unfolding like branches reaching out toward the light.

Act 3

Cartier’s Collaboration with David Laport

A powerful choral interlude accompanied a runway show that drew inspiration from the Maison’s high jewellery pieces, led by acclaimed Singaporean conductor Chong Wai Lun.

A nod to the sensorial dining experience, the third ‘Fusion of Senses’ course marked the momentous evening, as the Maison presented its exclusive couture collaboration with celebrated Dutch designer, David Laport. Known for his sculptural nature-inspired creations, Laport presented 18 evening looks intricately handcrafted using innovative materials and incorporating innovative 3D textile geometric and thematic elements, each harmoniously paired with the Maison’s high jewellery pieces in a breathtaking showcase of savoir faire and contemporary elegance.

Act 4

Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s performance

The line-up of acts drew to a close with singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor who took to the stage in a headline performance.
